If you’ve flown through Cancun International Airport, you know it’s no palace—but it’s also not the worst.
There are festive boutiques for last-minute shopping, a handful of restaurants and plenty of seats. The people watching is also stellar (no, really!). You see the best of the worst, and the worst of the best haha.
Anyway, Cancun Airport went through a massive expansion unveiled last year. During peak hours, it can still feel like a zoo, which is why this secret outdoor patio is the best hideaway.
The only catch is that you have to pay $10 to enter, but that $10 applies toward food (burgers, wings, salads, etc).
I recommend the turkey burger, which I’ve tried, and it’s not bad. You can apply the $10 credit to drinks too for that one last margarita.
Considering you have to be at the airport two hours before departure, and security runs a lot faster than you would think, it’s a great way to kill time, have a cocktail and soak up some rays before your flight back home. Just make sure to make time for the people watching. It’s a total show, better than Coco Bongo and definitely a lot cheaper.
