Alaska Airlines is expanding options for its Atmos Rewards loyalty program with a new debit card and an incoming transfer partnership. Debit Card Launch Set for 2027
The carrier plans to introduce an Atmos debit card next year that lets users earn points and elite status credit on purchases. This product targets travelers who prefer debit over credit or who may not qualify for premium cards. It marks the third major U.S. airline to roll out such an offering recently, after United and Southwest.
Cardholders will receive a feature-rich experience, though exact perks beyond earning are still under development. Pre-registration is already open for those interested in early access.
Earning Rates and Everyday Benefits
The debit card offers straightforward rewards on routine spending. Most purchases earn 0.5 points per dollar, while eligible Alaska, Hawaiian, dining, and rideshare transactions earn 1 point per dollar. Status points accrue at a rate of 1 per $3 spent.
Additional discounts on flights and onboard purchases are expected. These features provide a practical entry point for building toward free travel without relying on credit approval.
New Transfer Partner on the Way
Starting in 2027, select Bank of America credit cardholders will gain the ability to transfer rewards into Atmos Rewards. The airline has not yet confirmed transfer ratios or eligible cards, but the partnership fills a gap since Bank of America currently lacks a major airline transfer option.
Atmos Rewards points rank among the most valuable in the industry. Alaska also signaled plans to add transfer opportunities with other global financial institutions in the future, expanding beyond its existing Bilt partnership.
Business Card Overhaul Coming Soon
Alaska intends to refresh its Atmos Rewards Visa Signature Business Card later this year. Early details include 10 points per dollar on purchases through the carrier’s business platform, lounge passes, and same-day confirmed flight changes.
The update will introduce lounge access for business cardholders for the first time. Full terms, including any changes to the current $95 annual fee or companion fare benefit, are expected this fall.
