Alaska Airlines is making mealtime at 30,000 feet a lot more appealing.
The airline just announced it’s expanding its popular Fresh Meals program to more West Coast routes, giving more travelers access to upgraded inflight dining. According to the press release, the menu now includes guest favorites like the brie and apple sandwich and a chicken curry wrap, served on flights as short as 1,100 miles. This is part of Alaska’s ongoing effort to make flying more comfortable and, frankly, more delicious.
Meals Made Fresh Daily with Local Ingredients
Unlike the typical shrink-wrapped fare, Alaska Airlines’ meals are made fresh each day in Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. Ingredients are sourced locally whenever possible, and the menu is updated regularly. One standout item for a lot of passengers is the Soy Ginger Chicken Wrap, which combines bold flavors and is overall pretty healthy, especially compared to other airplane food.
There’s also a new Charcuterie Protein Platter with turkey, white cheddar, apples, and cranberry sauce, which is perfect for travelers who want something light but satisfying.
Available in Main Cabin and First Class
You don’t have to be flying First Class to get in on the good stuff. These meals are available for pre-order in Main Cabin and are included for First Class guests.
Alaska says passengers on flights of 1,100 miles or more can pre-order meals using their app or website. It’s a smart move, considering how many travelers now expect better options in the sky, especially those seeking meals that align with their dietary goals or personal tastes.
Responding to What Flyers Actually Want
Alaska Airlines says these changes come directly from customer feedback. Flyers have been vocal about wanting fresher, tastier options, and it turns out that the airline listened.
In fact, their food program is already popular, serving more than 1.5 million fresh meals annually. By expanding availability to more routes, Alaska is clearly aiming to set itself apart in a competitive market.
A Small Perk That Makes a Big Difference
Let’s be honest: airline food isn’t exactly known for its wow factor. But when a carrier offers genuinely good meals, it changes the whole travel experience.
Alaska’s move shows they understand the little things matter: good food, reliable service, and thoughtful upgrades. For frequent flyers and vacationers alike, it’s one more reason to consider Alaska for their next trip.
