Maldives is one of the most beautiful destinations in the world. Known for crystal-clear waters, backbending service and over-the-top villas, Maldives is a magnet to affluent travelers who want to experience paradise. While Maldives may be known for its overwater villas, we have said time and time again the way to go is the beach villa. Due to strict zoning laws across the world, Maldives is the only destination where your villa will be just steps from the calm water (yes, you can’t find villas literally on the beach and just steps from the water anywhere else, not even Tahiti or Hawaii). Baglioni Resort Maldives recently (and finally) unveiled beachside pool villas — and they’re stunning.
Set on Maagau in the Dhaalu Atoll, Baglioni Resort Maldives is just 40-minutes by seaplane from Malé International Airport. The resort offers 88 luxury refurbished villas that recently reopened, including the beachside pool villas. All beachside pool villas have floor-to-ceiling sliding glass walls, outdoor areas and private pools. While the pools are small compared to beach villa pools at other luxury properties, guests will likely just swim in the sea mere steps away.
The resort flexed his international muscles upon reopening. It partnered with Italian brands like Ferrari Trento for Italian bubbles, Frette for handmade bed linen and bath towels, and MC2 Saint Barth for beachwear and Insìum to provide anti-ageing cosmetics.
While the main activity in the Maldives is hanging out in your expensive villa to get your money’s worth, you can get extremely active here. First, here’s 9 craziest attractions you can only experience in the Maldives.
Secondly, Baglioni Resort Maldives is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, but gym junkies can still get their hearts pumping in the state-of-the-art gym. There’s also beach based activities such as volleyball and non-motorized water sports including pedalos, windsurfing, kayaking, boat trips and snorkeling with full equipment provided.
The PADI Gold Palm 5-star Diving Centre offers daytime, sunset and night time excursions.
The Baglioni SPA features open-air wooden pavilions for individuals and for couples, a yoga pavilion and the mentioned gym. The Spa menu includes Thai and Balinese rituals, personalisable massages to tone, purify and rejuvenate the face and body as well as treatments to strengthen hair stressed by sun and sea.
Villas start at $1,000 a night.
