Your hotel will always be one of the most crucial aspects of any vacation. Choosing the right one can often feel like a daunting task, especially at destinations like the Disneyland Resort, where options are numerous right outside the gates of Disneyland (which, if you’ve been to the area, you know there are a ton of options).
Several factors come into play when choosing the right hotel for your family vacation, including price, distance from the parks, food options, and amenities. Likewise, needs will vary depending on who’s traveling, whether it be families, couples, friends, or solo travelers.
Staying on Disneyland Resort property remains an appealing option to those with large budgets, but those rooms usually start around $500 for the cheapest hotel on property. For everyone else who doesn’t have that wiggle room in their budget, look no further than our handy guide to the best hotels near Disneyland that offer excellent accommodations without breaking the bank.
1. Hilton Anaheim
Located on 777 West Convention Way, next to the Anaheim Convention Center, the Hilton Anaheim provides some of the best accommodations for the area at consistently low to moderate rates. The spacious rooms offer theme park views and hearing and mobility accessibility. The hotel itself features numerous food options, including a restaurant and lounge, as well as indoor and outdoor pools.
Within walking distance to the Disneyland Parks (around 15-20 minutes), this saves you the hassle and high fee of parking at the resort. There’s also a shuttle available at a low fee. While the room rates can fluctuate and rise depending on the date, the Hilton Anaheim remains reasonably priced quite often. I’ve stayed here numerous times for under $200 a night. Guests can also book their park tickets through the hotel and enjoy a discounted rate.
2. Doubletree Suites by Hilton Hotel Anaheim Resort- Convention Center
If space and cost prove more important than distance from Disneyland, the Double Suites by Hilton, located at 2085 South Harbor Blvd, will be the way to go. Over the years, this hotel has consistently been the go-to place for my family because it offers two-room suites at affordable prices. These rooms include two queen beds with a pull-out sofa in the second room. Standard rooms are available, too. The hotel also has a restaurant, a small coffee shop, and an outdoor pool.
Like the Hilton Anaheim, the Doubletree rates will frequently be under $200 per night, except with much more space to offer. The best part is that, although further away, it still takes approximately nine minutes to drive to the parks.
3. Embassy Suites by Hilton Anaheim Orange
Another hotel with lower rates and two-room suites, the Embassy Suites by Hilton on 400 North State College Blvd in Orange, is another excellent option for those looking for the most bang for their buck. Although a bit further away (a 13-15 drive), you can’t go wrong with the price and quality of the hotel.
Growing up, I stayed here more times than I can count, enjoying the delicious free breakfast, glass elevator, and spacious and comfy suites. In recent years, it’s been remodeled to a jungle theme, which kids will love, while adults will enjoy the restaurant and cocktail lounge.
4. Anaheim Marriott
Located right across from the Hilton Anaheim, the Anaheim Marriott on 700 West Convention Way offers clean and comfortable accommodations at reasonable and comparable rates. This hotel’s main virtues lie in convenience, atmosphere, and numerous food options. The rooms have a sleek and contemporary feel, while the pool exudes tropical vibes. Dining options include an excellent restaurant, a grab-and-go market, a pizzeria, and in-room dining.
My past stays at the Anaheim Marriott for Disneyland adventures included using the shuttle, which I found convenient but required patience. Pay attention to the schedule, or you’ll waste time waiting for one to arrive. Walking may often prove to be the better option, at 15 to 20 minutes. Still, few things can beat enjoying a coffee on a cool and crisp morning on your room’s balcony.
5. Howard Johnson by Wyndham Anaheim Hotel & Water Playground
A fun and reasonably priced hotel that families will adore, Howard Johnson stands out among its competitors. It features a lot of adorable decor and theming, including a giant chair for photo ops and Disneyland attraction posters. Moreover, the pool and water playground prove to be one of, if not the best, in the area.
Located across the street from Disneyland at 1380 South Harbor Blvd, the Howard Johnson offers an approximate 10-13 minute walk. Close proximity also gives guests a chance to view fireworks from the comfort of their rooms, a most appealing experience for those struggling with crowds.
Convenience and price point add to Howard Johnson’s virtues, with rooms typically being between $200 and $400. So, if you’re looking for a hotel close to the resort but much cheaper than the on-site hotels, this will be your best option.
6. The Element Hotel by Westin Anaheim Resort Convention Center
A beautiful hotel highly recommended by renowned YouTuber Park Pass, The Element Hotel offers lovely, modern decor, including bubble sculptures, a pretty pool area, and sleek rooms.
The Element also stands out for accommodating large numbers with different room types. For example, a kid’s suite with two queen beds and a bunk bed sleeps up to eight people and includes a kitchen space. Additionally, there are one-bedroom suites with a full kitchen and smaller corner suites.
They also offer a complimentary, high-quality breakfast of waffles, crepes, and eggs, a water and coffee station in the lobby, fun added perks like balloon arches, and a short seven-minute drive or 15 to 20-minute walk.
7. The Viv
Another hotel that frequent parkgoers rave about, such as Park Pass, She Saved, and SoCal Disney Dad, the Viv Hotel, offers high-quality accommodations and fun theming. This theming includes elements inspired by Disney, Star Wars, and Lego. It even features a wall filled with fun Lego characters and a giant View-Master slide. With a recent renovation in 2022, the Viv sets itself apart with a new, warm, and modern look compared to older hotels.
Similar to The Element, The Viv features bright rooms that can accommodate larger groups of people, with King, Queen, and bunk beds. Additionally, they offer spectacular theme park views, a grab-and-go market, stylish restaurants, two pools, a kids’ pool, and an adult-exclusive rooftop pool. Moderately priced, averaging in the $200 range, the Viv manages to feel luxurious. Guests only have a six-minute drive or can use the free shuttle service.
8. Travelodge Inn & Suites by Wyndham Anaheim
The Travelodge Inn & Suites provides consistently affordable rates and quick access to the parks for travelers with more modest expectations. It features motel-style accommodations, but the rooms are clean and updated and feature Disney-themed decor. While simple, the hotel also provides a free breakfast of cereal, ready-to-make waffles, coffee, and juice.
Located at 1057 West Ball Rd, Anaheim, the hotel does not offer a convenient walking path, but is as short a drive as possible. One turn and about one minute later, you’re on your way to the parking structures. Likewise, I’ve stayed at this hotel multiple times for under $170 a night. I’d say that makes up for anything else that may be lacking.
9. The Westin Anaheim Resort
According to Park Pass, the Westin Anaheim Resort is the nicest hotel in Anaheim. Indeed, many travelers would deem it the finest the Disneyland area has to offer. The Westin envelops guests in a sleek and sophisticated atmosphere, but at less expensive prices than the equally upscale Disneyland and Grand Californian Hotels.
Make no mistake — the Westin will prove a more expensive option, with standard rooms typically in the $300 and $400 range. Still, that pales in comparison to the Disneyland Hotel, which averages $600-$700 a night, and the Grand Californian, which can run upwards of $800 to $1.000 — and that’s just for their standard rooms!
The Westin Anaheim has an upscale vibe, especially its rooftop restaurant, which offers stunning views of the theme park and fireworks. The rooms and suites also offer beautiful views and luxurious accommodations.
Located at 1030 West Katella Avenue, driving takes approximately eight minutes, while guests looking to save on parking fees will have a 20-minute walk. Everything the Westin Anaheim offers will be worth the price for travelers with larger budgets.
10. Best Western Plus Park Place and Mini Suites
Located directly across the street from Disneyland, the Best Western Plus Park Place and Mini Suites will be perfect for those looking to walk to the parks in as short an amount of time as possible. Indeed, located at 1544 South Harbor Boulevard, the walk between the hotel and the Disneyland Park entrance takes only six minutes. This remains as close as one can get to the property.
The hotel itself is in a motel style, with room entrances on the outside. It offers free coffee at the entrance, stylish decor, and an average rate in the $300 range. The price may be higher than others, but the convenience cannot be beat.
