Bilt introduced its revamped rewards program earlier this year with Bilt Cash as a central feature, giving cardholders a separate currency that can be earned alongside traditional points. Only $100 of any balance carries over into the next calendar year, which means most users face a hard expiration on December 31. The program now supports a widening set of redemptions that range from boosting everyday points earnings to covering premium experiences such as helicopter transfers.

How Cardholders Accumulate Bilt Cash

Cardholders earn Bilt Cash through a combination of milestone bonuses and ongoing spending. New applicants for the Bilt Blue, Obsidian, or Palladium cards receive an initial grant upon approval, with amounts ranging from $100 to $300 depending on the product. Ongoing earnings come primarily from a 4 percent return on eligible non-housing purchases made with any of the three Bilt credit cards. Milestone bonuses also contribute when members hit status thresholds, such as earning 25,000 Bilt points. The company has noted that a meaningful share of redemptions already flows toward rent and mortgage payments, indicating early adoption of the housing-linked option.

High-Return Options for Points and Housing

One of the strongest standing uses converts Bilt Cash directly into points on rent or mortgage payments processed through the Bilt platform. Members spend $30 in Bilt Cash to unlock one point per dollar on up to $1,000 of qualifying housing charges, producing a clear return that many users have already embraced. A separate Points Accelerator lets Obsidian and Palladium cardholders activate an extra point per dollar on the next $5,000 of non-housing spending for a $200 Bilt Cash outlay. The feature can be used up to five times per year and turns the Palladium card into a flat three-points-per-dollar vehicle on most purchases. When both options compete for limited cash, the housing redemption generally delivers more points per dollar spent.

Transfer Bonuses and Hotel Savings

During monthly Rent Day events, Bilt sometimes offers transfer bonuses to airline and hotel partners, with higher elite tiers receiving larger percentages. Members can spend Bilt Cash to upgrade their status tier for the day and capture the improved bonus. In one recent example, Gold members paid $200 to reach the Platinum tier and increased a Virgin Red transfer bonus from 45 percent to 75 percent. Bilt Cash can also offset hotel stays booked through the Bilt Travel portal. Up to $100 may be applied toward qualifying two-night bookings once per month, and Palladium cardholders can combine the credit with the card鈥檚 biannual hotel statement credits for additional savings.

Lifestyle Redemptions Including Helicopter Transfers

Newer options extend beyond points and lodging. Members may redeem up to $350 in Bilt Cash per seat for as many as two Blade helicopter flights each year, covering routes such as Manhattan to JFK or Newark airports and seasonal service to the Hamptons. Blacklane chauffeured car service accepts up to $150 annually for Platinum members, with lower annual caps for Gold, Silver, and Blue tiers. Fitness classes booked through the Bilt app accept up to $40 per month, while Lyft and Walgreens each support a $10 monthly credit. These smaller redemptions provide straightforward ways to draw down balances before the calendar reset.

Practical Planning for the December Reset

Many cardholders are already sequencing their redemptions to capture the highest-value uses first, such as monthly housing points and the Points Accelerator, before turning to lifestyle credits. The annual caps on several redemptions reset on January 1, and new cardholders will again receive fresh Bilt Cash grants at that time. With the current expiration rules in place, members who have accumulated balances through routine spending now have a defined window to deploy them across both high-yield points strategies and distinctive travel experiences.
