Washington Dulles International Airport – Travelers passing through the busy hub can once again enjoy the full Capital One Lounge experience starting today. The facility had operated under limited service for several months while crews completed infrastructure and ventilation upgrades aimed at improving temperature control throughout the year. Full operations resume at 11 a.m. ET on Sept. 18, restoring the complete range of seating, dining and bar options without altering the lounge’s existing layout or design. ([1])

Timeline of Limited Service

The lounge remained partially open during the work period, offering a separate food counter with select hot items, grab-and-go selections and limited cafe seating just outside the main space. Eligible guests could still use those provisions while the primary 8,500-square-foot area stayed restricted. The upgrades focused on year-round comfort rather than expansion or redesign, leaving the overall footprint and aesthetic unchanged.

With the work now complete, the return to full service marks a straightforward restoration for regular users who had adapted to the temporary setup. Airport staff and Capital One have coordinated the transition to minimize disruption on reopening day.

What Returns With Full Operations

Guests will regain access to the lounge’s full seating areas, dedicated coffee bar, grab-and-go section, complete bar and buffet that mixes hot and cold dishes. These amenities had been scaled back during the closure period, so the shift back to normal brings a noticeable increase in variety and space. The physical environment stays the same, yet the improved ventilation system should deliver more consistent temperatures across seasons.

Travelers who relied on the limited counter during recent months will notice the expanded choices immediately upon entry. The reopening aligns with ongoing demand for premium lounge access at one of the East Coast’s busiest international gateways.

Who Can Enter and at What Cost

Primary holders of the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card or the Venture X Business card qualify for access when they hold a departing flight within three hours. They may bring guests at standard rates of $45 per adult and $25 per child ages 2 through 17, with children under 2 admitted free. Cardholders who spend at least $75,000 in a calendar year earn the right to bring two complimentary guests on each visit for the rest of that year and the following calendar year.

Authorized users can gain entry through an annual fee of $125, which covers up to four users on a personal Venture X card or applies per user on the business version. Holders of the standard Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card and their guests pay the same per-person fees without the complimentary options tied to higher spending. These rules remain consistent with pre-closure access policies.

Next Steps for the Network

The Dulles reopening forms part of Capital One’s steady growth in airport lounges. The issuer opened a new location at LaGuardia earlier in 2026 and has plans for a 14,000-square-foot facility in Charlotte that would become its eighth site overall. Frequent flyers who hold the relevant cards now have one more fully operational option on their routes.

Those planning travel through Dulles can check their card benefits and flight timing ahead of arrival to confirm eligibility. The restored lounge adds a reliable stop for eligible passengers seeking a quieter space before departure.
