Chase has announced adjustments to the Sapphire Reserve for Business card that will reshape how some business travelers use its benefits. The most notable update doubles the value of annual statement credits tied to stays at The Edit properties. A separate change introduces a high spending threshold on one bonus earning category. These shifts take effect at different points in the coming months and apply specifically to the business version of the card. ([1])
Expanded Credits for The Edit Stays
The card currently provides two annual statement credits of up to $250 each for eligible two-night or longer stays at The Edit hotels booked through Chase Travel. Beginning January 1, 2027, that structure expands to four credits of the same amount. Cardholders who use the full allotment will therefore receive up to $1,000 in statement credits each year. This increase raises the potential value of the benefit well above the card’s $795 annual fee. The change applies only to the Sapphire Reserve for Business and does not extend to the personal Sapphire Reserve card. Business owners who already book these properties regularly stand to gain the most from the adjustment.
Perks Included With The Edit Bookings
Stays at The Edit properties booked through Chase Travel come with several standard inclusions that enhance the overall experience. These elements remain in place alongside the expanded credits. – Daily breakfast for two
– A $100 property credit per booking
– A welcome amenity, subject to availability
– Complimentary Wi-Fi where offered
– Room upgrade at check-in when available
– Early check-in and late checkout when available Cardholders may also request a price match if a lower rate for the same stay appears within 24 hours of booking. These features apply across participating properties such as 1 Hotel locations.
New Cap on Advertising Spending
The card has offered an uncapped 3 points per dollar on social media and search engine advertising, a feature that appealed to businesses with substantial digital marketing budgets. Starting November 15, 2026, Chase will apply a $1 million annual cap on eligible spending in those categories. Spending above the cap earns 1 point per dollar instead. The first year of the cap runs from November 15, 2026, through the statement date when the next annual fee posts. After that, the limit resets each account anniversary year. Chase has indicated the threshold is high enough that it will affect only a small number of cardholders.
Welcome Offer and Approval Considerations
New applicants can earn 200,000 bonus Ultimate Rewards points after meeting a $30,000 spending requirement in the first six months. The offer represents one of the larger sign-up bonuses currently available from Chase for this card. Approval remains subject to the issuer’s 5/24 rule, which limits approvals for applicants who have opened five or more personal cards in the prior 24 months.
What matters now
Businesses that book The Edit stays multiple times per year will see the largest increase in effective value. Those with advertising spend well below $1 million annually face no immediate change to their earning rates.
Overall Impact on Card Value
These represent the first significant modifications to the Sapphire Reserve for Business since its introduction. The doubled hotel credits add meaningful flexibility for frequent travelers who use the program, while the advertising cap introduces a boundary that remains distant for most users. Cardholders should review their typical booking patterns and marketing expenses to determine how the updates align with their spending.
