The Citi / AAdvantage Executive Mastercard has completed a significant update, with its expanded benefits now active for cardholders. The annual fee has risen to $695, which places greater emphasis on using the new statement credits, elite status offers and other features to extract full value. Existing holders face a rolling transition to the higher fee, while new applicants pay it immediately. Information on these changes comes directly from reporting on the card update. ([1])
Enroll Quickly for Hotel and Car Rental Status
Two of the most straightforward additions involve complimentary elite status that requires only a short enrollment step. Cardholders can activate Omni Champion status through their Citi account or mobile app, gaining access to room upgrades, early check-in and late checkout options, plus daily credits and amenities during stays. The same process unlocks Avis President’s Club status through August 2028, which provides expedited service and upgrades at major airports. These tiers normally demand substantial annual spending or activity, so receiving them automatically adds meaningful convenience for travelers who use Omni properties or Avis rentals even occasionally. Enrollment links appear in the card benefits section, and linking an existing loyalty account completes the process in minutes. Cardholders planning any relevant travel should complete both steps before their next trip to ensure status posts correctly.
Apply the American Airlines Vacations Credit
A new annual credit of up to $500 for American Airlines Vacations packages stands out as one of the larger additions. The benefit splits into two $250 windows each year, and cardholders still have until December 31 to use the full second-half amount for 2026. Eligible purchases must go through the vacations portal and combine at least two components such as flights with hotels or cars. Packages that include experiences can also qualify when paid with the card. Before booking solely for the credit, travelers should compare total costs against separate reservations to avoid losing direct loyalty benefits or paying more overall. Unused portions do not carry forward, which makes planning a qualifying trip before year-end a practical priority for those who can use it naturally.
Track Inflight Purchases and Loyalty Milestones
The refreshed card adds an annual statement credit of up to $100 for American Airlines inflight food and beverages plus qualifying Admirals Club purchases. This calendar-year benefit resets each January, so current holders have the remainder of 2026 to apply it. Frequent flyers on the airline can treat this as one of the simpler perks to capture. At the same time, the card now awards up to 40,000 bonus Loyalty Points across four milestones instead of the prior two. Reaching 50,000, 90,000, 165,000 and 240,000 points each triggers a 10,000-point bonus. Cardholders already past the new higher thresholds should see those points post soon, while others can check their balances to gauge progress toward the next reward during the qualification year.
Adjust to Expanded Lyft Credits and Phasing Benefits
Lyft users gain an increase to $180 in annual credits, earned after three eligible rides in any calendar month. Linking the card to a Lyft account and monitoring the monthly threshold allows regular riders to capture the full amount without extra trips. The higher limit rewards consistent usage rather than manufactured activity. Existing cardholders retain two outgoing benefits for a limited time. The 25 percent onboard discount on American flights remains available through September 30, and the Grubhub monthly credit continues through August 2027. New applicants after August 23 do not receive either. The primary Admirals Club membership benefit stays unchanged for the main cardholder and authorized users. The updated card now requires more deliberate use of its features to offset the higher fee. Frequent American Airlines travelers who enroll in the status offers, apply the statement credits and monitor Loyalty Point progress stand to gain the most from the changes.
