Oogie Boogie Bash Is Back And So Is Disneyland’s Most Magical Fall Season

It may only be summer, but Disneyland Resort is already stirring up excitement for fall 2025, and it’s sounding like a season full of tricks, treats, and a dash of Pixar-style heart.

This week, Disney announced the return of its beloved, fan-favorite Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party, set to take over Anaheim starting August 23, 2025.

The news comes as many travelers begin booking fall getaways, and for families, especially those with Disney traditions, it’s a calendar item that can’t be missed. From haunted overlays to themed snacks and after-dark dance parties, Disney’s autumn lineup has turned into a seasonal event on par with summer vacations and winter holidays.

What’s New and What’s Coming Back

The 2025 festivities will kick off with Halloween Time at Disneyland Resort, running from August 22 through October 31, bringing park-wide décor, spooky overlays, and pumpkin-spiced everything. Haunted Mansion Holiday returns, of course, blending Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas with the iconic ride, transforming it into a Jack Skellington dreamscape.

Over at Disney California Adventure Park, the Plaza de la Familia celebration returns from September 1 through November 2. Inspired by the beloved Pixar film Coco, this cultural tribute blends music, food, and vibrant décor to honor Día de los Muertos with live entertainment, memory walls, and Mexican cuisine that goes way beyond theme park churros.

And yes — Oogie Boogie Bash is back! The wildly popular, separately ticketed nighttime event turns California Adventure into a costumed playground after dark. Expect immersive villain encounters, trick-or-treat trails, and the kind of glow-in-the-dark magic that makes grown-ups feel like kids again.

Why This Halloween Party Sticks

Let’s be honest: Halloween has become less about fright, and more about fun, and Disneyland has leaned into that balance beautifully. Oogie Boogie Bash, in particular, feels like the ultimate remix of Halloween nostalgia with all of the candy, capes, parades, and a few Disney villains who are more charming than chilling.

For parents, it’s a safe and wildly imaginative way to celebrate the season. For Disney adults (you know who you are), it’s an excuse to don that Hocus Pocus costume in public. And for kids, it’s all pure wonder, especially when characters like Bruno from Encanto or Miguel from Coco show up in lights and music.

Planning Ahead Is the New Normal

What makes this announcement newsworthy isn’t just the lineup, it’s the timing. With travelers planning trips further in advance than ever, fall theme park visits now require the same kind of prep as summer vacations. Hotels around the resort often book up quickly once party dates drop and event tickets, especially for Oogie Boogie Bash, which tends to sell out within days.

While exact ticket release dates haven’t been announced yet, Disney is urging fans to stay tuned. And judging by past years, it’s a good idea to set a calendar reminder now.

Beyond the Parks: Anaheim in the Fall

Even if you’re not attending Oogie Boogie Bash, Anaheim in autumn offers plenty for visitors. Milder temperatures, fewer crowds (especially midweek), and nearby fall festivals across Orange County make it a surprisingly good time to visit. And if you’re extending your trip, you can catch a few hours at the beach or explore SoCal’s underrated food scene beyond the theme parks.

In other words: it’s not too early to start planning that fall getaway. And if you’re looking for a little mischief, a little music, and a lot of Mickey-shaped pumpkins, Disneyland might just be the place.
