Review: Blantyre Resort, Berkshires, Lenox, Massachusetts (PHOTOS)

Blantyre pet-friendly resort

Blantyre, a five-star resort in Berkshires (Lenox, Massachusetts), is one of the most luxurious properties in New England — and we were the first ones to check in this season. The resort is timeless, elegant, rustic and intimate, and it’s one of the best resorts we’ve stayed at on the East Coast. Here’s our review of Blantyre.

A turn-of-the-century, 110-acre country estate with a Gilded Age mansion-transformed hotel, along with 4 stand-alone cottages, Blantyre preserved the “bones” of the structures. It opened as a year-round operation with a destination spa in May 2005, but you do feel like you entered a different era. It’s a Relais & Chateux property (one of my favorite brands), so you know right off the bat you’ll have back-bending service, above excellent food, incredible spa and lots of privacy.

The resort offers an outdoor pool (in season), an award-winning spa and Cafe Boulud, a fine-dining indoor/outdoor restaurant helmed by renowned Daniel Boulud.

Take a look at Blantyre, which you can book on Tripadvisor!

Once you pull into the private entrance, you’ve entered a whole other world.

We we greeted right away in the drive, and whisked away into this ravishing and sumptuous lobby.

All the public spaces are visually compelling, with high ceilings, antiques and modern furnishings. The parlor could have been a set for a movie.

We spent time here just decompressing and chilling out. Because we were the first guests (after a long winter break), it was extra quiet.

It’s super posh, with a high-end country modern vibe. This is how I want my home to look.

We booked one of the 4 cottages (Cottage By The Path). All cottages have their own private driveway right on rolling green lawns.

Our 1000-square-foot, two-bedroom, two-bath cottage had period furnishing and modern amenities (such as Molton Brown toiletries), and a fully equipped kitchen.

It was perfect for my dog JetSetRuby (the cottages are pet friendly), who spent hours out here keeping herself busy.

Or we’d take the short hiking trail that led back to the resort.

Despite the name, Cafe Boulud at Blantyre is a posh, elevated dining space.
