Sitting is the new smoking, and since we’re all working remotely, glued to the news, and spending a lot of time on our computers (Zoom, anyone?), we’re essentially smoking a pack a day! If you’re remote working and sitting all day like me, you’d be wise to upgrade to a better office chair. It makes a world of difference. Thankfully, I spent days researching the best office chair, and I decided on the Nouhaus Ergo3D Ergonomic Office Chair. Here’s my review.
First, I should mention you won’t find a better test subject than me to determine the quality and comfort of an office chair. I broke my back many years ago, and I continue to have permanent back issues (including 2 herniated discs). I have to be aware of how I sit, how long I sit, and what I can do to alleviate any pressure or pain, as well as prevent any possible issues regarding my back, buttocks and legs.
When I started blogging, then remote working, I was spending more time in my chair than my bed (!). I was always feeling aches and pains in my lower back, and I knew it was due to the basic office chair I had. The office chair didn’t help my posture either. At the time, it was hard for me to justify splurging on a reliable and comfortable office chair because they’re so expensive, but ultimately, my health is the priority.
For nearly 2 weeks, I spent at least 3 hours a day searching for the best office chair. My criteria was that it was ergonomic, have lumbar support, have nearly 5 star ratings on review sites (whether Amazon or whatnot), recommended by official and legitimate chair experts and have features that allow all-day comfort. I ended up purchasing the Nouhaus Ergo3D Ergonomic Office Chair, which continued to come up in best of lists—and I have no regrets. It’s why I wanted to review Nouhaus Ergo3D Ergonomic Office Chair to give you an idea of how it made such a difference.

I ordered the Nouhaus ergonomic office chair on Amazon.com. When it arrived, it was quite easy to assemble. The box was huge and heavy, but that was the hard part. The easy part honestly? Assembling the chair. It took less than 20 minutes. It’s just attaching the parts together with a few screws and comprehensive directions.
The Nouhaus office chair is equipped with features a chair lover can only dream of: 4D adjustable armrest and lumbar system, ElastoMesh, 135 degree back tilt, smooth HydraLift, and dual castors (as a bonus, there’s a set of hardwood floor rollerblade castors. I love these wheels but I like to have my chair more or less stationary and keep it anchored on a floor rug).
The Nouhaus chair is very future forward with comfort that’s lasting. The first thing you think of when you see it is that it looks like a gamer chair, but that’s a good thing. Gamers spend *hours* at the computer. You know they prioritize comfort.
That said, this chair is not only great for people working at their computers all day, but also gamers, bloggers, and whoever needs a comfortable seat. The mesh headrest adjusts up and down, and it even tilts back and forth, while the 4D Adjust Arms go forwards, back, up, down, side to side, and they even rotate for the best fit to your body.
The 3D lumbar support is a huge relief. It’s the main thing I really needed. If you want extra lumbar support, you can always put a pillow back there, but because of the way the chair is shaped, the chair lumbar support is good enough. Some days, it feels like it hugs my back.

The seat can be adjusted to go up and down. I have it set at a normal level somewhere in between. I’m 5’8″ and it’s the perfect height, and I can definitely see this chair working for anyone up to 6’2″ as long as they adjust the seat low. It might be a tight fit for really tall people with really long arms and legs.
The breathable ElastoMesh provides optimal airflow to avoid sweating and sticking. I love it, because you will sweat the longer you sit in a chair, and I do not do this.
I got Nouhaus Ergo3D office chair in black (there are other color options, but black was already available to ship when I ordered it on Amazon). Once I sat in the chair at my desk, I felt a huge difference from my other chair, which did not have lumbar support, adjustable armrests or even a headrest.
Due to the way the Nouhaus chair is designed, it sort of forces you to have good posture. You can sit far into it, keep your head against the head rest, and both feet on the floor.
For my review of Nouhaus Ergo3D Ergonomic Office Chair, the most important factor: it is so comfortable. Listen. I’m not sitting on angel clouds here, but it’s a lot better than the chair I used to have, the chair I used at work, and any other chair I spent hours in. I actually enjoying coming to my computer to work, thanks to the chair.
I still get up from the chair about every hour and I recommend this to anyone sitting for long periods of time. You want to be able to walk around so you don’t get weak in the muscles or have all this pressure on your lower back for a long time.
The chair has a strong base and it’s stable, and there is no noise when you swivel.

Another benefit of the chair? It was only $320.
I know it sounds like a lot of money, but several similar chairs went for $1,000. Even more luxurious chairs went up to $2,000! I think $300 to $400 is ideal if you want to upgrade to an office chair that will last, give you all day comfort, and is very reliable.
For my review of Nouhaus Ergo3D Ergonomic Office Chair, my only gripe about the chair is that I wish the lumbar support was adjustable. There are some days when I’m in the chair for 10 hours doing work, and if the lumbar support came out a little more, that would be amazing. However, I do put a pillow back there if I have these long stretches of work.
