You Can Now “Work From Home” At Marriott Hotels For Half The Room Rate

Since March 2020, millions of Americans have worked remotely — and it may be some time before they return to the office. Many companies have been asking or enforcing employees to work remotely through 2021. However, as workers adjust to the new normal of working from home, they’re experiencing higher levels of “burnout” during Covid-19, according to a new report from Gallup.

Many hotel chains have provided a sanctuary by offering their facilities as work spaces, along with perks and cheap rates. Now, Marriott International is the latest hotel company to entice workers with its Work Anywhere With Marriott Bonvoy platform that provides up to 50% off the room rate.

Marriott Bonvoy, Marriott International’s travel program, unveiled its new program last week, offering workers hotel rooms as an alternative to working from home.

The program comes in three tiers—Day Pass, Stay Pass and Play Pass—offered at over 2,000 hotels from select brands within Marriott International’s portfolios, including AC Hotel, Ritz Carlton, Autograph Collection, and more.

With Day Pass, guests can transform the guest room into their office for the day (between 6 AM to 6 PM). Guests have access to premium Wi-Fi and full use of on-property business facilities.

The Day Pass rate will be 25-50% lower than an overnight stay, a Marriott representative told Travelbinger, and will include a pre-packaged basket amenity for Marriott Bonvoy members, including items such as Starbucks cold espresso beverages, chips, Kind bars and fruit. Guests booking Moxy Hotels with receive a Moxy cocktail. Guests checking into luxury brands, like Ritz Carlton, St. Regis and W Hotels, will receive complimentary valet parking (where available).

Stay Pass combines the Day Pass for an overnight stay in a standard guest room. The main benefit is the 6 am check in and 6 pm next-day checkout, though guests booking the Stay Pass will have access to hotel amenities, such as the pool or gym (where regulations allow), as well as free breakfast and complimentary evening cocktails, wherever available, according to the representative.

Guests checking into a luxury brand will receive “Surprise & Delight” amenity service or F&B offering based on brand local availability, such as any two items from the mini-bar or personalized stationary. Marriott members can earn points.

Play Pass is available for guests wanting a longer stay, including family in tow. Examples of amenities include a business concierge, supervised kids’ activities and preferred office/study spaces.

For Stay and Play Pass, the rates are slightly above a typical room night to account for the early and late checkout and additional amenities, according to the Marriott representative.

According to a Marriott study, 42% of more than 400 business professionals in the U.S. indicated they would consider working from a hotel guest room to address the Covid-19 landscape. The main reasons? The desire to break up the day-to-day monotony, not having a dedicated workspace environment and feeling claustrophobic in small apartments, and no boundary between work and personal life, especially for families managing remote learning for kids.

Work Anywhere with Marriott Bonvoy is the first of its kind for the Marriott brand, created to connect remote workers to select hotels across the globe.
