Air India will launch daily nonstop service between Delhi and Toronto beginning August 1, 2026. The carrier is assigning its newest Boeing 787-9 aircraft to the route, which will also introduce premium economy seating for the first time. Travelers can already book award space through Aeroplan, with business-class redemptions starting at 90,000 points one way and no fuel surcharges applied.
Route Frequency and Timing
The upgrade replaces less frequent operations with a true daily schedule. This change gives passengers more flexibility for both leisure and business travel between India and Canada. The added frequency is expected to benefit the large South Asian diaspora communities in the Greater Toronto Area as well as corporate travelers moving between the two countries.
Air India has positioned the new flights to align with typical departure and arrival windows that minimize overnight layovers. Exact flight numbers and departure times will be confirmed closer to the launch date, but the daily pattern itself marks a clear step up in convenience for the corridor.
Aircraft and Cabin Features
The Boeing 787-9 brings modern long-haul capabilities to the route, including improved cabin pressurization and larger windows. Premium economy will appear for the first time, offering a middle tier between economy and business class. The aircraft also features lie-flat seats in business class and enhanced in-flight entertainment options standard on the Dreamliner fleet.
These hardware improvements address common passenger feedback on older wide-body equipment previously used on the route. The 787-9’s fuel efficiency further supports Air India’s broader fleet modernization efforts.

Aeroplan members can secure one-way business-class awards from 90,000 points with no fuel surcharges. This pricing remains competitive for a transpacific or transatlantic-style long-haul segment. Economy and premium-economy awards are also expected to be available, though exact award charts for those cabins have not yet been published.
Because the flights operate under Air India metal, Star Alliance members can also earn and redeem miles on other partner programs. Availability is already visible in the Aeroplan search engine for dates after August 1, allowing early planners to lock in space.
