While some people can’t wait to sleep beneath the stars with nothing but a sleeping bag and a crackling fire, others prefer to level up their camping style to what’s known as “glamping.” The term has been around for some time, and it was listed in the Oxford Dictionary in 2016, as per Strohboid, after it gained popularity among those interested in camping but without makeshift tents and bug-infested campsites.
Glamping is an elevated form of camping that involves cozy cabins or lavish tents with luxury accommodations. Think TVs, private bathrooms, full-size beds, and even some with a fully working kitchen. For many, RV camping is also considered glamping, as it offers many amenities similar to what you might have at home.
The United States is notorious for its glamping spots, and more campgrounds have offered the luxury experience in recent years as camping interest has soared. (We noted several great campgrounds for glamping in our recent article highlighting the Campspot award winners.) But which states are the best for glamping, giving campers the comforts of home in the great outdoors?
A new study conducted by Glamping Florida, by River Ranch, a Westgate camping resort in Florida, analyzed key factors to determine America’s glamping hotspots and help you choose your next camping getaway. They looked at each state’s glamping popularity based on the number of camping-related Google searches, climate conditions, the number of glamping accommodations offered, and the number of glamping destinations, according to Glamping.com. Below are their findings.
Florida

Florida landed at the top of the list with an overall score of 66.8 out of 100. Its year-round warm weather and ample sunlight (the average temperature is 72.5°F, and there are 371 hours of sunlight per month, as noted in the study) make the Sunshine State a sought-after destination for camping.
Because of this, Wikipedia reports that there are 3,613 family campsites in Florida State Parks and over 400 premier RV parks and campgrounds, per the 2025 Camp Florida Directory. The study calculated that there are 1,258 campsites with glamping accommodations in the state, and the demand for them remains high, based on the 20,129 Google searches every month on average for glamping-related terms and 16,445 for “Florida glamping” across the U.S.
Texas

Ranked second is Texas, which scored 66.2 out of 100, widely due to its warmer temperatures that generally fall around 66.8°F. According to the study, there’s also very little monthly rainfall (2.36 inches), leaving more opportunities for outdoor activities. Another perk is that Texas is home to 4,679 campsites with glamping facilities, the highest in the U.S.
With the abundance of camping options in the state, it’s no wonder there are 27,389 glamping-related monthly Google searches and 24,896 for “Texas glamping” throughout the U.S. on average. For adventure lovers, The Lone Star State also has some breathtaking national parks for those wanting to explore the area outside of their comfortable cabins.
