The White Lotus has turned luxury resorts and scenic backdrops into destinations that fans actively seek out. Viewers who admired the show’s striking visuals often look for ways to experience those same settings in person. Both the Hawaiian and Sicilian seasons feature real properties and landscapes that remain open to travelers.

Maui’s Iconic Resort and Beaches

Season 1 centered on the island of Maui, where production transformed a high-end property into the fictional White Lotus resort. The Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea served as the primary filming site. Its oceanfront suites, infinity pools, and tropical gardens appear throughout the episodes. Wailea Beach lies directly in front of the resort. The stretch of golden sand and calm turquoise water matches the serene scenes shown on screen. Visitors often combine a stay here with snorkeling trips or whale-watching excursions during winter months. Further inland, Haleakala National Park offers a dramatic contrast. The dormant volcano rises more than 10,000 feet, providing sunrise views above the clouds. Many travelers add this stop to their Maui itinerary for a change of scenery from the coast. The Road to Hana provides another popular extension. This winding drive passes waterfalls, rainforests, and black-sand beaches that feel worlds away from resort life. Stops along the route allow visitors to explore a more rugged side of the island.

Sicily’s Historic Taormina Setting

Season 2 shifted to Sicily, where the production used a centuries-old property in Taormina as the new White Lotus hotel. San Domenico Palace, a Four Seasons Hotel, occupies a former 14th-century convent. Its terraces, cloisters, and infinity pool overlooking the Ionian Sea and Mount Etna feature prominently in the series. The town of Taormina itself adds to the appeal. Narrow streets lined with shops and cafés lead to sweeping coastal views. The Ancient Greek Theatre, dating to the third century BC, offers panoramic sights of the sea and volcano while still hosting performances. Nearby, Isola Bella sits connected to the mainland by a sandbar at low tide. Its protected cove draws swimmers and snorkelers. Castello degli Schiavi, a historic villa near Fiumefreddo, served as the setting for one memorable excursion in the show. Noto rounds out the Sicilian locations. The Baroque town’s honey-colored stone buildings and ornate palaces earned UNESCO recognition. Late-afternoon light highlights the historic center during visits.

Practical Steps for a White Lotus Trip

Spring and fall generally bring milder crowds and more comfortable temperatures to both destinations. Sicily also shines in late spring and early autumn when the sea remains inviting. Advance reservations at the featured Four Seasons properties are advisable because of increased demand after the show aired. Travelers who prefer alternatives can find boutique hotels and vacation rentals near the same beaches and towns. These options often provide easier access to local markets and restaurants. Adding cultural tours or off-the-beaten-path excursions helps create a fuller experience beyond the screen locations. The combination of natural beauty, historic sites, and upscale accommodations continues to draw visitors to these two regions. Fans and casual travelers alike find that the real places deliver the same sense of escape the series captured.
