Bilt members who earn points through rent payments gained a new redemption path on September 23. The program added Amtrak Guest Rewards as its 26th transfer partner and its first rail option. Transfers became available immediately through the Bilt app or website at a fixed 2:1 ratio. ([1])
How Transfers Operate
Members must first link their Amtrak Guest Rewards account to their Bilt profile. Once connected, points move in blocks of 1,000 Bilt points, with that amount serving as the minimum per transaction. The process completes almost instantly, allowing quick access to the new currency.
The ratio means 1,000 Bilt points convert to 500 Amtrak points. No fees apply, and the feature works on both mobile and desktop interfaces. This setup gives rent payers a direct route into rail rewards without additional spending.
Point Values Side by Side
Recent valuations place 1,000 Bilt points at roughly $22 when used flexibly across partners. The same points transferred to Amtrak yield 500 points worth about $13 toward train travel. That figure still exceeds the return from paying rent directly or taking statement credits.
Stronger options remain for many users. Transfers to World of Hyatt, Alaska Airlines Atmos Rewards, or Air Canada Aeroplan often deliver higher effective value. Amtrak serves best as a targeted top-up rather than a primary destination for large point balances.
Amtrak Redemption Reach
Amtrak Guest Rewards points cover more than 500 destinations across 46 states plus parts of Canada. The Northeast Corridor stands out, with frequent service linking Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, New York City, and Boston. Longer routes include scenic journeys such as the Empire Builder between Seattle and Chicago.
Redemptions follow paid fares rather than a fixed award chart. Travelers search trips in their Amtrak account and select the points option to see required amounts. Coach and business-class awards appear alongside private-room options on overnight trains.
Points remain valid for 24 months provided the member shows qualifying activity through earning or redemption. Transfers should therefore occur only when a specific trip is planned or imminent.
Why the Partnership Matters
Amtrak has maintained limited ties to major transferable currencies since its earlier arrangement with Chase Ultimate Rewards ended in 2015. The Bilt link restores a straightforward way for points collectors to access rail travel. For regular train users, the addition supplies a practical bridge between everyday rent charges and future journeys.
The move expands choice without replacing higher-value airline or hotel partners. It simply gives members another outlet when rail fits their schedule or route needs.
