Travelers who already use Rove to collect transferable miles on flights and hotels now have additional routes to build balances through routine spending. The program, which began in April 2025, announced the changes on August 28 and immediately rolled out card-linked dining at thousands of restaurants plus in-store offers at select retailers. Members can link an eligible card once and earn without altering their normal payment habits, provided they review any terms that might affect other rewards programs. ([1])

Practical Impact on Daily Spending

The updates address a common gap for points collectors: many earn miles only when booking travel, yet everyday costs such as meals and shopping represent far larger portions of household budgets. By extending earning to restaurants and physical stores, Rove gives users a steadier way to accumulate miles that transfer to airline and hotel partners. The rollout occurs on a per-account basis at first, so some members may see the new options sooner than others.

Early participants can search participating restaurants directly in the Rove app or website. The dining feature starts in select cities with plans for wider availability, while in-store offers begin with a smaller group of retailers that Rove intends to grow into thousands of locations. Users generally will not need to activate individual offers, though a few merchants may require it.

How the New Dining Program Works

To begin earning through Rove Dining, members link a payment card to their account, visit a participating restaurant, and pay with that card. Miles post after the transaction clears. The program does not disclose the underlying network at launch, which means cardholders should check whether linking affects participation in other dining rewards platforms.

Because the feature is new, members are advised to monitor emails and account notifications for any automatic unlinking from competing programs. Those who frequently dine out can now treat ordinary meals as another consistent source of transferable miles rather than isolated expenses.

Revamped Hotel Tools and Mobile Access

Hotel bookings through Rove have also received attention. The updated platform adds tens of thousands of properties, clearer room details, and improved bedding information before checkout. Loyalty-eligible rates now cover around 99 percent of chain properties, allowing members to earn Rove miles while still qualifying for status benefits at the hotel itself.

An iOS app has moved out of beta, and an Android public beta is available. Both bring booking, gift-card purchases, restaurant searches, and balance tracking into one mobile view. An artificial-intelligence assistant inside the app can answer property-specific questions for users who prefer the mobile experience.

Instant Miles From Gift Cards and Browser Tools

Another immediate option involves eligible gift cards that deliver miles at the moment of purchase. This feature helps members top up balances quickly when they are close to a desired transfer or redemption. Shoppers should confirm eligibility and usefulness of the card before buying, as the selection of instant-earn brands will grow over time.

Browser extensions have been refreshed as well. A new Safari extension joins an upgraded Chrome version that now includes thousands more stores and coupon codes. A mobile Safari extension ties directly into the iOS app, surfacing earning opportunities while users shop normally online.

What Members Should Watch Next

  • Review card-linking terms to avoid unintended changes to other rewards accounts.
  • Check the app or site regularly as restaurant coverage and retail partners expand.
  • Look for personalized offers that may appear for higher earning rates at select merchants.
  • Test the updated hotel search and app features on upcoming trips.

These additions keep Rove focused on flexible earning that fits around existing routines rather than requiring new spending patterns. For travelers who value transferable miles, the changes turn ordinary purchases into incremental progress toward future flights or hotel stays without extra effort.
