1 in 4 Americans take a road trip every year, according to AAA, and more people are hitting the road this summer. Whether you’re going for a short weekend getaway or a long, cross-country adventure, you want to be equipped with great, delicious and healthy snacks (to offset those fast food drive-thrus). Here are the 8 best healthy snacks for road trip to pack this winter.
My Favorite Snacks To Pack For Road Trips!
This “brookie” is one of my favorite healthy desserts. In fact, it’s a perfect mashup of two dessert classics: the traditional chocolate chip cookie bottom with a smooth, fudgy brownie drizzle on top. The gluten-free brookie is 100% paleo, grain-free, dairy free and soy free made with all natural ingredients and zero artificial flavors or preservatives. If you buy a box of 10 (which I did), it’s best to keep them in a fridge until you’re ready for your trip.
Chomps brought me Slim Jim vibes (from when I was a kid), but this brand offers the first-ever meat stick to be Whole30 approved and has become the fastest growing natural meat snack brand in the country with their flavorful, sustainably sourced ingredients.
Chomps never contain added sugar, soy, dairy, artificial preservatives or colors, MSG, fillers, binders or artificial nitrates or nitrites. I love the new Pepperoni Turkey stick, which is made with protein sourced from free range, humanely-raised turkeys that are fed a non-GMO diet and never given antibiotics or hormones. This makes it one of my favorite healthy road trip snacks to pack.
I love a good healthy bar, and Munk Pack offers Keto Granola Bars and Keto Nut + Seed Bars, which are crafted with high-quality, real ingredients from nature for balanced nutrition on the go. Each bar contains 1 gram of sugar, 2-3 grams of net carbs, and 3-6 gram of protein per serving. They’re super tasty, and honestly, go too fast.
Not only do I take Remedy Organics bottles on the road, I now have one for breakfast every morning. Remedy Organics offers delicious plant-based protein shakes with functional ingredients providing immune support, energy, brain health and more, Remedy Organics provides the perfect on-the-go snack or meal replacement.
Keeping you satisfied for long road trips, shakes include only USDA certified organic ingredients, are gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free and pack 8-14g of plant-based protein. Find flavors such as Berry Immunity, Cacao Essentials, Keto Cold Brew, Matcha Oxidants, and more.
Tea has been recognized as a healthful beverage for the mind, body, and soul for centuries. Rishi Tea now offers non-alcoholic seltzer and fruit flavored drinks launched with six compelling flavors, each with a unique flavor profile, wellness function and sourcing story: Black Lemon, Dandelion Ginger, Grapefruit Quince, Patagonia Maqui, Schisandra Berry and Turmeric Saffron. The Turmeric Saffron is my favorite.
I’m a big fan of lentils, and I’m happy that you can actually take them on a road trip with you. Seapoint Farms Mighty Lil’ Lentils are crunchy, savory plant-based protein bites that are both gluten-free and vegan, and excellent as a snack when you’re on the road. It’s available in a variety of flavors, including Pink Himalayan Salt, Barbecue, Falafel and Cinnamon Sugar.
Those who travel with me know I’m a huge fan of chocolate peanut butter cups. SkinnyDipped’s new peanut butter cups (dark + milk versions) are delicious, and they have a lot less sugar than what you’d find in the drugstore. Staying true to their motto of giving you more nut and less sugar in every bite, the new cups achieve peanut butter cup perfection that’s nestled in a thin chocolate shell. Unlike other low sugar options out there, SkinnyDipped doesn’t use Stevia or sugar alcohols.
8. Sow Good
This newly launched, sustainable, plant-based snack brand offers nutrient-dense, ethically-sourced fruit and vegetable freeze-dried snack packs available in a delicious variety of flavors including; Lookin’ Pine (pineapples), Cool Beans (edamame), Mon Cherry (cherries), What’s Apple’n (apples), You’re Bluetiful (blueberries), and more! These are great to nibble on when you’re on the road.
