Many Chase Sapphire Preferred cardholders pay the modest annual fee without realizing how easily the card’s statement credits can more than cover it. The recent card refresh added several practical benefits that reward everyday travel and lifestyle habits. With enrollment deadlines approaching for some perks, now is a good time to review what is available and how to claim the value.
The Hotel Credit That Covers the Fee
The Sapphire Preferred provides up to $100 in statement credits each account anniversary year for hotel stays booked through Chase Travel. No enrollment is required, and the credit applies automatically when eligible purchases post to the account. This single benefit alone typically exceeds the card’s $95 annual fee, turning the math in favor of keeping the card active.
The credit follows the cardholder’s anniversary year rather than resetting on January 1. Only the first $100 in qualifying hotel spending each year loses the ability to earn points, while additional eligible charges continue to earn the standard 5 points per dollar through Chase Travel. Cardholders who book even one modest hotel stay per year often find this perk straightforward and reliable.
Global Entry and Trusted Traveler Savings
Cardholders receive a statement credit of up to $120 every four years when they charge a Global Entry, TSA PreCheck, or Nexus application fee to the card. The reimbursement appears automatically after the charge posts. Global Entry remains the stronger choice for most travelers because it includes TSA PreCheck benefits at no extra cost.
The credit can also cover an application for a friend or family member if the primary cardholder already holds the benefit. Because it resets only once every four years, it functions more as an occasional windfall than an annual tool. Still, the savings on one of the most useful airport programs make it worth remembering when the time comes to renew or apply.
Apple TV and DoorDash Perks
Eligible cardholders can activate at least 12 months of complimentary Apple TV by enrolling through their Chase account before the December 31, 2026 deadline. The process is a one-time step that delivers ongoing streaming value with minimal ongoing effort. Note that the benefit covers Apple TV only and does not extend to Apple Music.
The card also offers at least 12 months of complimentary DoorDash DashPass when activated by December 31, 2027. Once enrolled, cardholders receive reduced delivery and service fees on eligible orders. Authorized users on the account gain access to the same membership benefits.
After DashPass activation, a separate $10 monthly discount applies to one qualifying nonrestaurant order each calendar month. Eligible orders include groceries, convenience items, and retail purchases. The discount must be used in a single transaction, and any unused portion does not carry over to the next month.
Putting the Credits to Work
The Sapphire Preferred keeps its benefits relatively simple compared with cards that layer multiple monthly and quarterly credits. The hotel credit requires no action beyond booking through Chase Travel, while the Apple TV and DashPass offers need only one-time enrollment. The Global Entry credit and monthly DoorDash discount demand slightly more planning but still deliver clear value when used.
Cardholders who occasionally order groceries or convenience items through DoorDash can capture the monthly discount without much extra effort. Those who travel even once a year often find the hotel credit alone justifies the annual fee. Together, the full set of credits provides meaningful returns for many users without requiring complex tracking.
