Fearrington House Inn & Restaurant Review – The Good Life Awaits

In Pittsboro, North Carolina, just outside Raleigh, Fearrington House is a five-star, Relais & Chateaux luxury hotel known for its outstanding, rave-reviewed Fearrington House restaurant. While the property may be a little out of the way from a major metropolitan city, it’s worth the journey. In fact, it’s one of the top hotels we’ve stayed in — a big statement considering Travelbinger has stayed in over 700 luxury hotels. Here’s our review of Fearrington House Inn & Restaurant in North Carolina.

Fearrington House Inn & Restaurant Review

Fearrington House Inn

After staying in a beautiful Relais & Chateaux property in New York’s Adirondack Mountains, the owners strove to build a property just as quality as the one they visited. To be part of Relais & Chateaux, a property needs a high-level, upscale fine-dining restaurant, which introduced Fearrington House Restaurant — both of which opened in the late 1980s.

Fearrington House is a 32-room inn inside Fearrington Village, a highbrow, wealthy community, but I was thrilled with the abundance of nature. Not just nature, but perfectly designed nature, including a lake with an amazing reflection of the surrounding trees, and it was all sky here – not a building in site, and even in the village, nothing is more than two stories.

The inn and its setting is unmistakably “Southern” —from charm to Southern hospitality — set within an English-inspired village in the countryside of the North Carolina Piedmont. Guests can expect the merging of rustic rural magnificence, small town charm, a “residential” feel versus a hotel atmosphere, a sense of community, as well as the feeling of being miles away from city life thanks to an actual farm with rolling pastures and farm animals that include goats, chicken and cow.

Fearrington House is dog-friendly in all sense of the word. My pup Ruby loved the perfectly manicured gardens and sprawling lawns, which I enjoyed for meditative strolls. Of course, she loved getting up and close to the animals in the farm.

One of my favorite things about a luxury property is that it does feel like a small village – and a historic one. It’s quaint and very Southern. Here’s an idea of what the village looks like in the video.

I also love that parking isn’t in a garage, or you have to do valet, or the parking lot is off to the side in some other lot. Here, parking is right in front of your accommodation.

For those who drive here, or are arriving after a long road trip, this makes a significant difference.

I stayed in a Grand Suite, which isn’t a suite but feels larger than that, more like your own villa. Here’s the entrance.

My suite offered a private entrance and outdoor courtyard and garden.

The suite itself is as upscale, elegant and well appointed as it gets.

High-quality furnishings, well thought out decor and interior design, and a wonderful, whimsical bathroom that’s just as big as the bedroom.

Most of my time was spent in the property’s dozens of gardens, the heart of the resort. There are 60 garden beds (including an herb garden) connected by brick pathways, some with fountains, some with ponds.

I loved the quietness. Fearrington’s setting is like a spa treatment in itself!

Even the public spaces are elegant, straight out of Architectural Digest.

Fearrington House Restaurant knocks fine Southern cuisine right out of the park. Even the structure itself is quite majestic, alluding to an experience you may never forget, and adding to the charm of the South that Fearrington does well.

The dishes were made from ingredients and produce straight from their farm.

It’s worth a special night out.

Loved every bite

The property also offers a wonderful two-level spa.

The beer garden with wood-fired pizzas and local brews added a social, laid-back atmosphere, where both locals and visitors alike congregated.
