After a fairly quick flight from Atlanta (approximately 5 hours), and a breeze through the very modern airport (new as of 2 1/2 years ago), I’m very surprised with Quito — and the views are absolutely insane. So when someone asks “what should I see in Quito?” It’s literally Quito, because the views are magnificent and breathtaking, and in my opinion, it is what makes Quito special. That’s right. What should you see in Quito? The views. All of it. Take it all in.
I have to be honest: Before I arrived, I thought Quito was going to be something like Lima: congested, loud, sort of chaotic. But it’s amazing, and I wrote a story on 6 compelling reasons to visit Quito, Ecuador now.
Quito has a small population of 2.5 million, and the architecture is stunning.
The city is sprawling, built on hills, so there are commanding views from anywhere you stand. I’m excited to check it out the next few days! Here are some photos to give you a preview, because the views are absolutely stunning, and it’s what you should see in Quito.
