Great hotel, not-so-great stay: Here’s what didn’t work at The Bellagio – Image for illustrative purposes only (Image credits: Unsplash)
The Bellagio remains one of the most recognizable hotels on the Las Vegas Strip, famous for its fountains and central location. A recent stay booked through Bilt’s Home Away From Home program, however, fell short of the expected benefits that came with the reservation. The room itself was renovated and comfortable, yet several service and amenity issues created frustration during the two-night visit.
Booking Through Bilt and What Was Promised
The reservation was made for a renovated king room with a view on a high floor. Bilt’s program outlined several inclusions, including early check-in, late checkout, a daily breakfast credit of up to $30 per person, a $100 food-and-beverage credit, and a space-available room upgrade. These perks were the main reason for choosing the third-party booking over a direct reservation. The hotel itself sits in the middle of the action, between Caesars Palace and Aria. Its lobby features a large Dale Chihuly sculpture and an expansive botanical garden. The property also offers more than 15 dining options and an attached shopping area, all within easy walking distance of major Strip attractions.
Service Shortfalls That Stood Out
No upgrade was available despite the booking category. The assigned room faced the back of the property and offered only partial views of the pools along with traffic on Interstate 15, rather than the Strip or fountains. Multiple text messages to the concierge requesting show tickets received no response until checkout reminders arrived. Wi-Fi proved unreliable for streaming or video calls. Late checkout was also denied, even after a call to the front desk, which limited flexibility when moving to another hotel later that afternoon. The total cost reached nearly $770 after the $100 credit, before any additional statement credits from the Bilt card.
Elements That Still Delivered Value
The fountains continued to draw crowds with shows every 30 minutes in the afternoon and every 15 minutes at night. The $100 food-and-beverage credit and daily breakfast allowances were applied without issue at the end of the stay. The casino and central location made it convenient to reach other popular spots, including shows at nearby properties. Renovated rooms received positive notes for their updates, though the view remained a clear drawback in this case. Large conventions in town may have contributed to the limited availability of upgrades and other requests.
Key points from the stay:
- Expected Bilt perks did not fully materialize.
- Wi-Fi and concierge response fell below standard.
- Location and fountains remained strong draws.
- Credits for food and breakfast worked as described.
The combination of high rates and inconsistent delivery of third-party benefits left a mixed impression. Future visits could still make sense if rates drop and expectations are adjusted for peak periods.
