Singapore Airlines has lifted the curtain on its long-awaited cabin redesigns for first and business class, giving frequent long-haul travelers a clearer picture of what lies ahead on its flagship routes. The updates arrive after years of customer surveys and a substantial investment that touches everything from seating to serviceware. Passengers on the airline’s ultra-long-range flights stand to gain the most immediate benefits once the changes begin rolling out. ([1])
First Class Moves Toward Shared Comfort
The new first-class seats place a premium on flexibility for couples while preserving privacy for solo travelers. Side seats function as self-contained cocoons with generous storage and personal controls, while the center pair can merge into an 80-inch by 60-inch double bed when companions lower the divider. Each seat offers 89.5 inches of pitch, Poltrona Frau leather upholstery, and a 32-inch 4K screen paired with Bang & Olufsen wireless headphones. Passengers can save preferred settings for lighting, lumbar support, and legrest position so the configuration carries over on future flights. A cocktail tray and wardrobe space add practical touches for longer journeys. The overall palette of taupes, browns, and terracotta accents aims to create a sense of warmth and calm.
Business Class Adds Privacy Doors and Memory Features
Business-class pods now feature closing doors and a front-facing 1-2-1 layout that responds directly to traveler feedback about angled seating. The seats measure up to 24 inches wide with 50 inches of pitch and convert to 79-inch lie-flat beds. Center pairs can also form a companion bed when the divider drops. A larger ottoman and flexible tray table that stows beneath the screen address common complaints about space. Passengers receive memory-foam seat covers and can store preferences for seat position and lighting through the entertainment system. The 20- or 22-inch 4K screens support Bluetooth pairing, and wireless charging plus USB-C ports keep devices ready throughout the flight.
Premium Economy and Economy See Targeted Refinements
The Boeing 777-9 will carry updated premium economy and economy seats designed specifically for that aircraft. Premium economy gains an extra inch of pitch to reach 40 inches and an additional inch of recline, along with adjustable leg and footrests. Economy seats remain in a 3-4-3 configuration but receive 13-inch 4K screens and improved power options. These changes stay limited to the new 777-9s for now, leaving the rest of the fleet with existing products in those cabins. The refinements still deliver noticeable upgrades in screen quality and connectivity for passengers who choose those classes on the widebody jets.
Amenities and Service Updates Broaden the Experience
Beyond the seats, Singapore Airlines is refreshing meal options with more than 100 new or updated dishes across all cabins under the SIA Chefs’ Selection program. New Christofle chinaware and glassware will appear in first and business class, accompanied by expanded champagne and spirit lists. Amenity kits are expanding as well: first-class passengers receive Sisley products, business-class travelers get Byredo kits for the first time, and both premium economy and economy receive updated pouches with practical items. New pajamas in first and business class feature subtle batik patterns, and the KrisWorld entertainment system gains a refreshed interface with better search and personalization tools. Starlink Wi-Fi service is scheduled to begin progressive rollout in 2027 on select aircraft, remaining complimentary for eligible loyalty members and premium cabin passengers. The airline plans to begin installing the new first- and business-class seats on its A350-900ULR fleet in the second half of 2027, with broader retrofits extending through 2030. Long-haul travelers can therefore anticipate a more consistent premium experience on the carrier’s longest routes once the program advances.
