New York travelers seeking a faster path to South Florida now have another scheduled option that blends commercial convenience with private-jet perks. Blade is bringing back its BladeOne service on the busy corridor between Westchester County Airport and two South Florida airports, directly challenging the established player JSX. The move comes as seasonal demand from New Yorkers continues to shape travel patterns between the two regions.
Service Relaunch and Timeline
BladeOne will operate from Westchester County Airport in New York to Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport and President Donald J. Trump International Airport in West Palm Beach. The seasonal schedule begins November 19 and continues through May 2, 2027. Flights are operated by Aero, a Los Angeles-based private jet airline, under the Blade brand and use smaller aircraft that serve dedicated private terminals rather than main commercial concourses. The service had previously run from 2015 until its discontinuation in May 2024. Its return reflects sustained interest in the route amid ongoing population shifts and business connections between New York and South Florida. Passengers can also book integrated helicopter transfers from Manhattan to the departure airport, easing ground connections for those traveling from New York City, New Jersey, or Long Island.
How the Experience Compares to JSX
Both carriers target the same middle ground between a standard first-class ticket and a full private charter. JSX already flies the route with Embraer E135 and E145 jets configured for up to 30 passengers. BladeOne, by contrast, will use E135 aircraft limited to 16 seats in a 1-1 layout across eight rows, offering more space per passenger. Additional amenities on BladeOne include high-speed Starlink Wi-Fi, amenity kits, and food and beverage service curated by the company’s partners. JSX passengers benefit from an existing partnership with United Airlines that allows MileagePlus members to earn miles. Blade currently lacks a comparable frequent-flyer program, though Bilt Cash can be used for bookings on its flights.
Practical Advantages for Travelers
The smaller cabin size and private-terminal access allow passengers to arrive closer to departure time than at major commercial airports. This setup reduces time spent in security lines and crowded terminals, which appeals to frequent travelers on the route. Helicopter connections further streamline the journey for those based in or near Manhattan. Business and leisure travelers alike stand to gain from the added competition. The route serves both snowbird seasonal moves and year-round corporate travel between the Northeast and South Florida. With two carriers now offering similar semi-private products, passengers may see more schedule options and pricing pressure over time.
Market Context and Outlook
Blade CEO Rob Wiesenthal described the relaunch as filling the space between a typical first-class seat and a full private charter. The company cited significant migration of New York residents to South Florida and rising business travel as key drivers for the decision. JSX has expanded aggressively in recent years using the same fixed-base operator model, making the corridor a natural point of direct competition. Travelers evaluating the two services will weigh factors such as seating density, loyalty benefits, and ground-transfer ease. The return of BladeOne adds another scheduled alternative on a route where demand remains strong, particularly during the winter months.
