New York City – The U.S. Open returns to Queens later this month, bringing world-class tennis and the familiar mix of energy, heat, and crowds that define the event each summer. For many attendees, the chance to step away from the courts into a quieter, air-conditioned space stands out as a welcome contrast. Both Chase and American Express are once again providing dedicated lounges for eligible cardholders, offering a practical way to recharge between matches. These spaces have become a reliable feature for those who hold the right cards, turning a long day at the tournament into a more comfortable experience. Access rules differ between the two issuers, and timing matters for reservations.
Why These Lounges Stand Out
The U.S. Open draws large crowds to the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, where daytime temperatures can climb and lines for food or seating often stretch. A lounge provides a controlled environment with seating, refreshments, and live match coverage, allowing visitors to rest without leaving the grounds entirely.
Card issuers have expanded their presence at major sporting events in recent years, recognizing that such perks add tangible value for premium customers. At the U.S. Open, the lounges operate separately from general admission areas and require specific credentials for entry.
Chase Lounge and Terrace Details
The Chase Lounge opens during Fan Week from August 24 to 28, running on a first-come, first-served basis from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Eastern Time. Once the main draw begins on August 30, the space shifts to a reservations-only system for Chase customers. Slots become available each day at 9 a.m. Eastern through the ChaseGetsYouCloser.com site for the following day’s sessions.
Daytime hours run from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., while evening sessions are covered from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The lounge is available for most sessions but closed for a handful later in the tournament. New menu items this year include matcha lattes and iced blueberry matcha lattes during the day, along with matcha popsicles in the evening. Light bites, charging stations, and air conditioning remain standard.
Chase will also operate the Chase Terrace, an open-air area near the Grandstand with views of several outer courts. This space stays first-come, first-served throughout the event, with hours extending from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. during Fan Week and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. for early main-draw sessions.
American Express Lounges and Perks
American Express is offering two distinct lounge experiences. The Amex Centurion Lounge sits on the second floor of Louis Armstrong Stadium and welcomes Platinum and Centurion cardholders through same-day, one-hour reservations made via Resy starting at 9:30 a.m. Eastern each day. Platinum holders may reserve for themselves plus one guest, while Centurion holders can include up to three guests. The space features dishes from chefs Kwame Onwuachi and Mike Solomonov.
A separate American Express Card Member Lounge on the second level of the Amex Fan Experience remains open to any Amex cardmember and up to two guests. Those without an eligible card can still visit the Fan Experience area itself. Additional cardmember benefits include an earpiece radio for the ESPN broadcast and an Amex Offer that returns $10 after $100 spent on qualifying on-site purchases beginning August 30.
Practical Steps for Attendees
With the tournament approaching quickly, cardholders should prepare accounts in advance. Chase customers need to monitor the dedicated reservation site daily once the main draw starts. Amex Platinum and Centurion holders should ensure their cards are linked in a Resy profile before reservations open each morning.
Even without a confirmed lounge reservation, bringing the appropriate card can still grant access to first-come, first-served options such as the Chase Terrace. General admission tickets remain available through secondary markets, and some premium cards include statement credits that can offset costs for those purchases.
The combination of reserved and walk-up spaces gives cardholders flexibility depending on their plans and how early they can secure a spot. Those attending multiple sessions may find the lounges especially useful for pacing a full day or evening at the event.
