JetBlue is preparing to introduce its domestic first-class product, known as BlueFirst, on select aircraft beginning in December. The carrier has now shared long-awaited details on how TrueBlue Mosaic members and certain cardholders will access those seats through complimentary upgrades. These policies align the airline more closely with practices at other major U.S. carriers while introducing targeted adjustments to its loyalty program ahead of 2027.

Qualification Rules Remain Consistent

JetBlue confirmed that the number of tiles required to reach each Mosaic tier will stay the same next year. Members will still need 50 tiles for Mosaic 1, 100 for Mosaic 2, 150 for Mosaic 3, and 250 for Mosaic 4. Tiles continue to be earned primarily through flying and eligible credit card spending, giving frequent travelers a predictable path to status. This stability means members already working toward higher tiers face no sudden shift in requirements. The decision keeps the focus on the new benefits rather than raising the bar for qualification.

How Complimentary BlueFirst Upgrades Will Work

All Mosaic members will receive unlimited complimentary upgrades into BlueFirst when seats remain open. Priority will follow a clear order: Mosaic 4 members clear first, followed by Mosaic 3, Mosaic 2, and Mosaic 1. JetBlue Premier cardholders without status come next, provided they paid for the ticket with that card. Eligible passengers can clear the upgrade list up to one hour before departure. Each Mosaic member may also bring one companion along for the upgrade. Travelers who purchased basic economy or EvenMore fares will not qualify, and upgrades remain subject to availability on every flight. The new cabin will appear first on aircraft without the lie-flat Mint product. JetBlue has stated it will not extend standard complimentary upgrades into Mint itself.

Premium Upgrade Certificates Replace Earlier Options

Higher-tier members will also gain confirmed upgrade options through a refreshed certificate program. What were previously called Move to Mint certificates are being rebranded as Premium Upgrade Certificates and can now be used for either Mint or BlueFirst cabins. Mosaic 3 members will automatically receive four certificates upon qualification, while Mosaic 4 members receive four more. Additional certificates can be selected through the Perks You Pick menu beginning at the Mosaic 2 level. Redemption remains availability-based and can occur any time after booking up to two hours before departure, with the number required varying by flight.

Revised Perks You Pick Menu Takes Effect

JetBlue is also refreshing the optional benefits members can choose at each status milestone. New additions include one-time passes to the carrier’s BlueHouse lounges in New York and Boston, with full lounge membership reserved for Mosaic 4. Premier cardholders gain new gifting options, such as transferring a 10-tile bonus or even Mosaic 1 status to another traveler. Several older perks are being removed, including priority access to Mint Studio suites, certain statement credits, FoundersCard membership, and IHG elite status. In their place, the pet fee waiver becomes a standard benefit starting at Mosaic 2. Members receive one choice at each tile threshold and may now select the same benefit more than once if desired. Many of these program adjustments take effect February 1, 2027, though BlueFirst upgrades will begin as soon as the seats enter service. The changes give Mosaic members clearer ways to use their status on both short-haul and long-haul flights while expanding options for cardholders. Travelers planning 2027 trips can now factor these upgrade and perk details into their booking decisions.
